Making space to understand & prioritise yourself.

Telling your story, and making space for your varying feelings, in front of another person is courageous and often healing. The human experience is an exhausting one. Acknowledging its impact on your functioning, and where that comes from, can help you access the meaning and beauty life has to offer. My aim is to help you alleviate your pain by fostering a non-judgmental, safe space. With curiosity, we’ll explore your story to become more aware of your feelings and patterns of relating to yourself and towards others in order to experience deeper fulfillment.

Whether you’ve lost a loved one, or are going through a life transition, all changes, sometimes even positive ones, result in loss. Very often, we don’t take the time to acknowledge and give ourselves the space to process these experiences. This may leave us feeling isolated and disconnected from ourselves and others –perhaps overwhelmed by these experiences, or feeling stuck. I believe when we make space to process these emotions and experiences, we open ourselves up to what nurtures balance in our lives.

“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.” - Carl Rogers

About Douglas Edwards

Driven and passionate about helping individuals navigate their journey toward healing and personal growth, I am an integrative psychotherapist based in the vibrant neighborhood of Shoreditch. With a strong emphasis on holistic approaches, I specialise in every day mental health care and addressing a range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, and addiction. Having accumulated substantial experience over the years, I have had the privilege of working in a variety of settings, including a well renowned charity family therapy service. Through these experiences, I have honed my skills in empathetic listening, creating a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to explore their deepest emotions and concerns. My integrative approach to therapy allows me to tailor sessions to suit each client’s unique needs and preferences. By drawing from various therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Interventions and breath work, I aim to provide a comprehensive and personalized treatment plan for every individual I work with. I firmly believe in the power of therapy to overcome anything that this life can bring us and also as part of a simple day-to-day selfcare routine.
